All-stars Greg McCarron and Emily Turney put together back singles to push a run across a for the Cards in the top of the first. Turney held the Tigers at bay in the bottom half, but in the second they erupted for 6 runs, highlighted by hobbled All-Star Mitchell Chaves' 2 run double. The Tigers added 3 more in the 3rd, as Adam Bilodeau and All-Star Mercer Kelly each scored their second runs of the day. Some fine defensive work in the 4th by All-Star Jonas Lukowitz at short kept the Cards in the game, but the Tigers refused to let up, as All-Star Emerson Mahoney cleared the bases with a 5th inning single. Refusing to go quietly, an Austin Chandler triple and Brian Frost single helped the Cardinals plate 2 runs in the 6th. The overriding theme of the game, and, in fact, the entire season, was the dominance of 12 year old All-Stars Kevin Cleary and Andrew Wiley. Behind the plate, on the mound, and on offense, these veterans led the way, not easing up until the job was done. As such, they finished their job. Well done. |
